“America’s Largest Celebration of Railroading in 2009” is coming to Owosso's Steam Railroading Intitute July 24-26, 2009. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to attend from all over North America and other regions of the world.

Steam and Diesel Locomotives from around the country will be on display for visitors to tour the cabs, take photos, watch demonstrations and much more. Huge model train layouts will be on display including a massive all-Lego model train. Railroad vendors from around the globe will have unique items for purchase that you won’t find any where else. Families will be able to take an all day excursion or shorter one-hour train ride behind various vintage locomotives.

Flint police can arrest people who “sag”

Earlier this month, the new interim Flint police chief, David Dicks, announced that police would start arresting people for wearing their pants “sagging” or below the waist and butt. Dicks believes sagging is “indecent exposure” and thus is punishable by a $500 fine or 93 days in jail.

Baker College to add a $6.5-million building

Due to increased enrolment in health science, Baker college is adding a new 40,000 square foot building. The new building will house programs such as nursing, therapeutic massage and patient care aid.
